November Video Blog: Writing and Learning
This month, Donald shares a piece of his work with faculty on writing and learning. This was inspired by Writing-Based Teaching: Essential Practices and Essential Questions.
Donald, thanks for sharing these fantastic techniques with us all. As a loyal fan of the Bard Institute for Writing and Thinking, I am glad to see these ideas gaining wider circulation. What I liked best about the way you presented them was how you made them so accessible to teachers in any subject. You inspire me! --Liz
Thanks so much, Donald! Interestingly, my KSI-inspired focus on growth mindsets led me to create a wonderful process writing "cover letter" like the one you note. Watching your video makes me intrigued to explore the different frameworks that might lead a teacher to stumble on effective practices like these... It also makes me reflect about the importance of meta-cognition for teachers after fruitful stumbles: even though I quickly saw the benefits of my cover letter and chatted casually/surfacely with colleagues about its value, I am now far more inclined to maintain it having seen your video....
[Sidenote: I am now participating in something called PLP - Powerful Learning Practice - which asks us to create a professional online footprint. This blogspot feels like an easy/comfortable place for me to start - thanks so much!]
